America's Birthday Party

Guess where we went this weekend... the pool! I think I've swam more this summer than I've swam in the past five years. Emmy has been obsessed with identifying flags for a while now, so she was in heaven today with American flags EVERYWHERE. we had to talk about all of them on the way to GiGi and Pops. We decided it was America's Birthday Party. Since we pretty much have some kind of birthday party at least every other week, she got this. No further explanation needed.
We started out making celebratory cupcakes. Some have snowflakes and holly berries on them, but so what. Cupcakes are cupcakes. Then we took a litle dip in the pool.

To many cupcakes +Ice Cream+steak+ a bunch of other food equals NAPTIME!!!! After a short break, we headed over to Katy Mills to our first Katy firework celebration with the cousins. There were a ton of kids and their reaction to the fireworks was great! They said "Whoa! Whoa! WHoa! "after every single firework. At the end Emmy Said "That was really cool." She liked the pink and the purple ones the best. Figures!

Happy Birthday America!

Liking Brownie Dough must be genetic

It's not a big secret that I am a fan of anything dough, biscuits, cake batter, cookie dough, anything.. but there's a special place in my heart for brownie dough. My roomate Melissa and I used to even make it in the dorm in college and everyone would come over for a spoonful. Sometimes when I really have a craving, we'll pull out a box of the low fat kind and we MAY or May not ever actually make any brownies.

Unfortunately, it looks like Emmy got the dough gene too...

Father's Day: Swimsuit Edition

We spent this Father's Day in the water. First stop, one week early, was GiGi and Pop's pool for swimming, grilling, and several naps (yes, they were all taken by me. ) Since Dad's Father's Day was so lame last year (We actually made him move us ON father's day) we decided to hopefully make this one a little bettter. Emmy decided she was going to jump in for the first time. this super cool floaty thing means she can pretty much swim around by herself. For Vacek Father's Day, we packed everyone in the car and headed down to Moody Gardens in Galveston. This is the hottest June EVER in Houston and it is pretty miserable. We figured the kids for make it an hour but they were having TOO Much fun to slow down. Here's all the Dad's and their kiddos.

We all took in the lazy river, wave pool (the kid favorite), lots and lots and lots of water sliding. and chilling under our own private cabana. The kids would've slid for another five hours.

We left Moody Gardens to grab a bite before the guys headed off to watch the Aggie game and all four kids were dead to the world asleep before we even got to the car. We finished off our Galveston trip with a stop at Rita's Sam approved =)

I am always so grateful that Emmy has so much family to love her and be with her as she grows. We love all of our Daddies, but especially this one!

Big Girl

Today my little girl moved up to the big girl Preschool class at school. Yep, I cried. I am blaming it on pregnancy hormones, but I can't imagine how I'm going to be when "real" school happens. I'll have to take the day off work. The kids in the class looked SO big, and she just pranced over and joined them, even without her "best friend in the whole world" (she told us this) Bianca. How did she get so big so fast!

Moody Gardens

We decided that three days of work was enough last week and took Friday off to head down to test out the new and improved Moody Gardens. Let's all say "ooooooooo!!!!!"

We started out in the aquarium/water pyramid. Pretty cool! They have a giant sea lion, pengiuns, a pretty awesome octopus, and Emmy's favorite, stamps. Yep, forget the penguins... the best thing about the whole thing was stamping her shark "passport."
Emmy's favorite part is the Dora 4D movie. She's seen it about seven times now. Thank goodness for the all season pass mom bought. At almost 20 bucks a pop for 12 minutes, I DON'T think that we'd be doing it more than once.
Then we went to the rainforest. And, that's enough description.

We headed back to the cabin for ice cream and naps ( yea naps!)

The next day we finished at the spash pad. Emmy LOVED the lazy river and wave pool, she just won't keep her mouth shut!!! She also led everyone to a round of "I'm drinking booty water!!!" at the top of her lungs." (FYI- Booty water is what we call her bath water because we try and discourage her from drinking it. ) Since the lazy river water was apparently the same, she decided it was booty water too. She also treated everyone to a newly learned "pee stance" (See Jackson's birthday post) at the splash pad. It went a little something like this... "I need to pee pee mommy." "Ok! Let's go!" "I do it right here" Assume stance. People start quickly walking away.

It was a relaxing couple of days (see naps) and we had fun! I think we'll be back!

Emmy Parties through Memorial day

After starting the holiday weekend off with Jackson's party, Emmy decided to just keep going. The next day she took in an Astro's game, on the front row of course (Emmy goes hard or goes home) with Abs and Lannie and Boppa.

And then did some party cruisin on Lannie and Boppa's boat. Sippy cups for everyone.

This is how she looked when we got her back...

She pulled through for a pool party with Gigi and Pops the next day. This year she is pretty much scared of NOTHING. She did the water slide by herself about 425 times and wanted to "let me do it myself" in her floaty. She tired in jump in and do the gigantic water slide. Mom had to take her to meet the lifeguard so that she would understand WHY she had to get out of the pool when they blow the whistle. She wasn't buying the Gigi explanation.

After a waterfight with Pops,

She climbed in a lawnchair, snapped her fingers for a juicebox and sighed "I need my bit bit."
The Memorial Day Princess was officially pooped!

Jackson is 2!

Somehow the past year has completely zipped by. I keep going"but we JUST (insert activity) it can't be time again..." and then it is. Jackson's birthday is one of those things. Last year he had a pool party and this year we kept with the water theme for a race car splash pad party. The birthday boy is the king of face-making. Here's his "muscle-face."

It was all a little too much for Sam. She got a full belly and took a little snooze. The most interesting thing that happened is that Abby taught Emmy how to "properly" pee in a swimsuit (according to Abby.) Lovely. I almost got a picture of it, but figured that might be a little too graphic. Forget the casual, low key approach, we now have a stance that leaves little to the imagination! Should make for an interesting summer at the pool!Evidence of a REALLY fun party- mouth WIDE open. Happy Birthday Jackson!

Beach Bum Weekend

We headed down to the beach this weekend for "Beach Bum Weekend 2011" with friends. The weather was GORGEOUS and we had a great time relaxing and eating WAY too much. Chips... bags and bags of chips.

The sassy factor was VERY high. The girls decided they were beach babes and put thier swimsuits on to head to the beach. There will be NO pictures of the pregnant mommies on this post. BLAH!They couldn't get enough of the water and the sand. Caroline decided to weat this tiara the entire day at the beach. It didn't come off her head.
Poor Seth pretty much got hypothermia last year and unfortunately he's 2 for 2 on hypothermic beach visits. The water was freezing.

Kim's husband Scott is a doctor, so we told Emmy that Dr. Watson was coming. Since our dogs names are Watson and Bogey she said" Yes and Dr. Bogey is coming too."

Too many chips, too little sunscreen, and staying up too late equals a really LONG monday but I think it was worth it!

Party Weekend (Mother's Day Edition)

We partied it up this weekend and we started at Andie Lynn's first birthday party! They had a bounce house and Emmy and Emmy bounced and slid and bounced for about three hours straight. The only breaks Emmy took were to make Collin push them around on the four wheeler

and to harass Lauren's poor great dane Jandy. She would get up in her face and ask him if he wanted to bounce. You can guess that she, of course, did not want to. She politely tried to just walk away, but Emmy followed her whereever she went. Another person that just didn't want to bounce was Kate. She just wasn't feeling it. Here's the big birthday girl with her Mommy and Daddy.
We had a great time relaxing at Laruen's house and getting the chance to chat while we made the boys watch the girls. AH... so nice. =) (But see they were still happy!)

After the party we headed out to party some more. We met my Fam for a celebration of Loo's brithday (she's getting OLD like me!) and Mother's day. Sadly, these are the only pictures at any of the mother's day celebrations.
Thank goodness Loo took some! We finished off Mother's Day with a lunch celebration out (maybe the last one ever) with all four kids with the Vacek's. Thank goodness for Lupe's playground. I am very lucky to have so many Mom's to celebrate =) It's extra special this year since we're about to be adding our new little boy!
