Getting Glam andd Going Out

I feel like I've signed up for 700 groupon-type websites or groups. I've pretty much stopped buying them unless they're REALLY good because you can go a little nuts. We bought one off the tidbits and treats website for a "Get Glam" day at the Modern Beauty Company. I thought it would be maybe 30 minutes of rushed makeup and a blow out, but it was SO fun. We treated Cousin Courtney for her birthday! Isn't she beautiful! The team there made it really fun for us, showed us how to put on our makeup with a detailed lesson and even made us each our own custom colored lipstick! She matched our gums, how crazy is that! We had a great time and finished up celebrating Courtney's birthday with a yummy lunch at Ruggles Green.

After getting glamed up (please do not judge the hair below) we headed out for not only restauraunt week, but Megan's 34th birthday with the fam at Antica in the Village. FABULOUS! The only way it would've been better is if i could've partaken of the champagne toast.

Big Sister Class

We want to make becoming a big sister a special experience for Emmy, so we decided to sign her up for the big sister class at the hospital. Her class was full of two to four year olds, just to set the scene. They watched a video on babies and then got to practice "helping" with their new baby sister or brother. They each picked a baby and then got to work learning how to hold the baby, putting diapers on the baby, swaddling the baby ( a skill that I can barely master) and then got a long discusion includeing a toilet paper tube on how to tell if a toy is too small for the baby to play with. Maybe a tad too conceptual with a bunch of two year olds? Needless to say Emmy's favorite part was putting the diaper on and off, on and off, on and off through the majority of the session. She's actually pretty good at it! Since her idea of putting her babies to sleep is smashing them face -down on the floor and covering them entirely with blankets, I think we'll just pretend like we never learned about putting Beckett to bed.
She very patiently sat through the toilet paper tube discussion and proudly "graduated" from her class to get her official big sister shirt. Then we went on a tour and we realized that she thought we were going to get Beckett all along. She kept asking "We're going to see Beckett?" Poor thing was NOT excited about trapsing all over the hospital, but I BET she remebers that the bed goes up and down when she comes to see us in the hopsital. =)

Nursery Rhymes

One of Emmy's favorite things to do is sing. We also like to swing outside after dinner and eat out popsicle for desert. We usually sing Hey Diddle Diddle for some reason and she decided to entertain us with a bunch of other nursery rhymes. As usual she says "Em me see!!" at the end of each one. She likes to watch herself on video better than anything else!

Staycation 2011

We decided that we needed a little down time before Beckett came so we headed down to GigiBeach for a little R&R. Our main goal was to do absolutely nothing and we still couldn't accomplsih that at the beach, but we did a little better! Emmy woke up everyday and we asked her what she wanted to do and she said "Stay at the house and play and play." Well, we did a little of that =) But we also celebrated two birthdays, saw some animals, ate really good food, and a bunch of other fun stuff!

The puppies had a nice beach walk and we even managed to snag a not-so-bad picture taken by a really nice semi-drunk older couple on the beach. Way to go guys!

The next day we headed over for the traditional Moody Gardens day. We have used the hell out of the season passes that I swore to Mom we probably wouldn't use. We started out with the dinos. There is a traveling exhibit of these crazy dinos in a big tent. Last time Emmy was scared of them. Not this time. They were all Tyrannasaurus Rex's..... Her and Daddy growled at this one. We had to practically BEG her to leave. Strange...
After a quick stop at Dora. (I'm about done with that.) Then we headed over to the LAZZZZY river. Emmy loves that thing, althought they've added a ton of things that squirt you in the face and dump water on your head, which I HATE. It's not so lazy anymore. After stops at the wave pool and slides we decided we were DONE. It's too freaking hot for pregnant whales to be waddling around outside.
After nap/puzzle time, we headed over for a paddleboat ride! Whoohoo- right!!!, eh... We smuggled on some contraband bread and fed the birds from the back. That was the highlight of EVERYONE on the boat's trip. We seriously had little kids stealing the bread from underneath Emmy's feat and throwing it to the birds. Paddleboats that go in a big circle are not SOOOO exciting. Last year I was in Australia with Kangaroos on my birthday, so this year I decided to take it up a notch and go to Alvin.... WHOOHOO! jealous? We decided to go to the Animal Safari park. I think that Blake and I like it better than Emmy. We can't quit giggling.Smelling the warthogs. so yes, they let THIS GUY just run around the park and come eat from your hand.. uh, that might have made me a LITTLE uncomfortable. All the fam came down to the beach to celebrate my 31st! Emmy nicely put the candles on my cake for me. The next morning we jumped in the car and drove to Caroline's Pirates and Pixies 3rd birthday party. Betsy had it decorated so cute. All the kids go to dress up and they even went on a treasure hunt! After quick partytime, we headed BACK down to the beach for a cousin birthday party. Mom decorated with a hula theme and the girls got into it. They were SO Excited to play on the beach. Emmy decided that she hated the water again for some reason until the VERY end.

Jackson, on the other hand, was ALL about it. Keith would just put him on the boogeyboard and send him in on a wave. He ATE it up.

The kids also got into making gigantic bubbles on the beach. I tried and tried for the most artistic shot ever but failed miserably. This is about as close as I got.

After all that partying, we had to head back to reality the next day. We actually had a blast!I let myself relax, Blake quit biting his fingernails and put together and entire puzzle, and Emmy got to play and play just like she wanted. The real world is going to STINK on Monday =)

A Sprinkle for Beckett

Beckett is coming soon! (Six weeks... ah!) I am so lucky that the Vacek crew decided to throw me a sprinkle. A Sprinkle is a little shower, but they didn't seem to get that memo. Everything was gorgeous and so much thought went in to everything.

Me and the hostesses.

All of the decorations were handmade with lots of love =) We'll use this one for the hospital. Custom monogrammed placemats and personalized water bottles. I decided I'll pull these out at restauraunts and make everyone think that this is what we "just eat on all the time " =)Family and friends came in from all over to celebrate my new little man. There are three baby bumps in this pic! The big sister.

And of course the gifts... We are spoiled as usual! Beckett got so many thoughtful, personalized, and custom items that my talented friends and family made or purchased for him. This is his first pair of Aggie overalls from YaYa. I'm a sucker for monogramming, and everyone seems to know it =)

I am one lucky lucky girl and my new little man is going to be surrounded by love. Thank you to everyone for making this such a special day!
