Cupcakes: A big 1/2 Birthday!

For an extra special treat, this month Beckett's 1/2 birthday fell on Pops 59th Bday, and we all got to celebrate together! I started back to work so that whole make the cupcakes thing didn't so much work this time. At six months Beckett is:

- Vital Stats: 18.9 lbs (72%) 27 inches (74%) 46 cm head (96%)
- Jumping and jumping and jumping and jumping. Jumping is especially hilarious if someone else does it with him.

-Has finally decided that food is ok, but only if it's the expensive, fancy organic squeezy kind. He's got a refined baby pallete evidently. Spinach, blueberry, banna puree is ok, pears.. no.

-His toes taste pretty good too!

-Just about ready to crawl! He is rocking back and forth on his hands and knees

- Participated in his first "GoTexan Day". We do call him our "Beck-a-roo"
-Started school. Here he is in his big boy Shark Jammies on the first day. They call him the "big man on campus" because he's a little ahead of his baby friends and rolls all over the place. He evidently already has a girlfriend too that he flirts with over meals.
-So big that he can sit in a high chair!
-But is pretty determined to climb out of just about everything else. We found him dead asleep like this in the swing. - Is working on his third ear infection already , this time a double one. We are about tired of ear infections, antibiotics, probiotics, diaper rash, diarhea, and everything about the doctor's office. Like his sissy, he never runs a fever and acts happy anyway. You can just tell he doesn't feel good by looking at his eyes.
-He likes to read books but really could care less if you sing for him. He loves to rough house and throwing and rolling him around is the most fun. Except for jumping!

Happy Birthday Pops!

We snuck down for a quick trip to the beach to celebrate 59 years of Pops. It has been almost 80 degrees in Houston for the past week so we assumed that it would be a great weekend for golf. Well... the boys took off for a tee time in the morning and it was of course, around 45 degrees. Over the course of their game, it rained, fogged, and even sleeted on them! We girls, and Beckett, went for the slightly warmer option and hung out at the house. Emmy managed to sneak in a Mani/pedi.(And then promptly chewed off most of the polish on her finger nails.)

When the boys got home, we took a quick trip to Moody Gardens to see the penguins. They turned out to be on vacation.

We headed over to Bennos for some barbequed crabs and they were of course, out. (There's a theme somewhere here.) Luckily, they did have crawfish. So the boys dug in. As you can see what we really needed was more food.
After getting pretty stuffed
we went home to eat pie and cupcakes, DUH!

Happy Birthday Captain Popsie! We love you.

My funny Valentines

I decided that we were going to be ambitious and try and actually make Valentines for her friends. It's been rainy and overcast for a few weeks now so we are really searching for projects to keep us busy during the day. There are 24 kids in her class and amazingly I only had to bribe her one time to keep on going. I am continually reaffirmed that we are raising a little lawyer. Her negotiations skills just keep getting better and better.

The conversation went like this:

Mommy- "Emmy let's do 6 more and then we'll play. "
Emmy -" I just don't have any time mommy. No time. That's a lot. I just don't have any time. "

Mommy - "Ok, how about six more and a mint."

Emmy - (Quick contemplation) "Ok Mommy I have time. Four? I do four and a mint." (this was complete with emphatic hand gestures.
Mommy - "No, how about five. Let's do five. "
Emmy -(Contemplating again. )Six and a sucker.

What could I do, I caved. Here they are! They are pretty good for a three year old decorating 24 valentines!
We took all those Valentines to her party at school. It's a cookie decorating party, which means and Icing eating part to Emmy. She ate most of the icing directly off the spoon it came on, put enough icing on the cookie to appease me,licked it off, and ran away to find ANOTHER juicebox. I have never seen anyone with a bigger sweet tooth. I seriously think she's worse than me! Here's Emmy and her school bestie, Bianca.

We traditionally have a little scavenger hunt when you wake up first thing on Valentine's day, but Blake is waking up SO early to go to work, we decided to do it after the party. I usually spend a ton of time doing this and then she doesn't care, so this year I went easy. Poor Beckett just had to deal with a princess theme this year. At leasy he got Blue crowns.
Of course this year she was totally into it. She ran around squealing trying to find the clues. Of course, this may have just been about the candy. She is OBSESSED! After the hunt, Blake cooked me a yummy dinner. Look at these fancy potatoes!

Beckett even got to taste a little of the pie. I think he liked it a LOT!
Happy Valentines!

Best Buds

So the past few years we've randomly taken Caroline and Emmy to get thier picture taken together because let's face it, I'll take any excuse to go take pics. It's fun to watch them grow and they're so cute we just can't help ourselves. This time, Betsy and I tempted fate and actually crafted with 4 kids in the house. We made Valentine's shirts for everyone. I'm 100% sure they will fall apart when they're washed, but they look cute in the pics

Two three years old and two under 5 month olds makes for a unique picture taking experience =) We didn't manage to get a printable one of all 4, but who needs that. The outakes are MUCH better. In most of them Poor Caroline is trying her best to hold Easton who is pretty much making a plea for help. Beckett is trying to escape, and Emmy is doing her best "I AM freaking looking at you is this over yet" smile.

The sibling sets did a little better:
But the best ones had to be the Best Bud pics . Check out these handsome studs!

And these little ladies
I can't believe that it's already been 3 years since this one, which was taken for Valentine's as well. And a few glamor shots individually.

Happy Valentine's!!

First Haircut!

Emmy was a little slow to grow hair. She didn't really even have enough to do anything with until she was about 2. I decided that at 3 and a quarter years, it was finally time for a haircut! I was really kind of afraid that it would be an epic meltdown at the salon, but she did really well! The fact that Dora was on probably didn't hurt.

She even asked if she could have "straight hair like Mommy" (What she doesn't know won't hurt her). The lady tried to blow dry it straight but just like mine, it wouldn't really go all the way.

I don't really know who she looks like with straight hair, but certainly not like herself! I really prefer the curls. I'm hoping she doens't ever ask to make it straight again ;)

After five minutes outside on the way in to the library, the curls were back! Humidity is the bane of a curly headed girl's existence.

Beckett's 5 month pics

So B is a champ at taking pictures now =) I really wanted some picutres of his chunky monkey rolls. He's such a little stud =) Hats are going to become a wardrobe staple!

Emmys Big Sister Adventures

We've been trying to do some special things for Emmy since she's the Big sister now. I think we go and do so much all the time though that sometimes "treats" just seem like another day =)

She has been carting around her Belle doll since Santa brought it to her. Belle goes everywhere and does everything that Emmy does. We thought that she would LOVE Beauty and the Beast at the movies. She was sooooooo excited when we got to the movie theatre, like jumping up and down and squealing excited.

Turns out what she was REALLY excited about was the skittles. She spent the majority of the movie begging me for more skittles and then screaming "Where's Belle!!!!" everytime she wasn't on the screen. Oh well, maybe next princess movie!

We also took a quick trip on the "Train" (aka metrorail" to visit GiGi downtown for a lunch date. The ride downtown was pretty fun! The train was pretty free of crazies and Emmy has a great time seeing us slow down and speed up. Emmy is always looking for downtown when we drive and wants to know which one GiGi works in, so she was excited to finally get to see!
