8 Month Pics

So at this point, the pictures every month are getting not so fun, but we WILL keep plugging on! This month it was time for the bathtub pics. I have one of Emmy at the same age so I just HAD to have one of the Beck-a-Roo. Even though I'm super late doing them, they turned out SO well. He is a handsome little devil!

This was the first picture she took and then after that it was OVER. he was jumping, climbing, twisting.. anything to get out of that bathtub!

Super Pee Paw Face!

And here's my pair. Somehow it manages to capture them perfectly. Prissy Sissy and Crazy Becks!

Laura's First Mother's Day

This mother's day, just like a lot of events lately happened at the beach! We headed down for Laura's first mother's day brunch at The Mosquito Cafe.

After some yummy lunch we opened our gifts, and I managed to find the tiniest gift box in history to put Laura's gift in.

and we were at the beach, so we REALLY had to make smores.
The Vacek Clan drove in for a fancy-schmancy brunch at the San Luis on Sunday. It was so fancy in the ballroom that Emmy asked me 'When are the Princesses coming?".

They even had a live butterfly release and all the kids got their own personal envelope with a butterfly inside. Emmy's butterfly amazingly escaped death by squishing. She couldn't quite grasp the "on the edges" concept.

We finished up the weekend with the grand opening of Palm Beach at Moody Garden and Beckett's first swimming! It was a little cold so he wasn't totally into it. Emmy was a little fish last year but she is easing it to again. She loved the Wave Pool and we even got in trouble with the life guard for having too much fun I guess. Blake was throwing her up in the air and she was giggling and giggling.

For anyone wondering, yes the pee stance is back. There's no running to the bathroom. But if you ask her if she has too tee tee, bet she'll say "I just did!" SO if you're ever at the pool with us. WATCH OUT! Not sure how my Mother's Day post ended there, but it did.

Cupcakes: 8 months

What an amazing month for Beckett! Last month he was on the verge of a lot and this month it all came together! (The cupcakes are no longer safe. There's at least two casualties a month.)

At 8 months the Beck-a-roo is:

  • Crawling EVERYWHERE, as fast as he can, wherever he wants to
  • Standing up everywhere, as fast as he can, wherever he wants to, sometimes he forgets that he's standing up and lets go and stands by himself for a second or two.
  • We have named him Yo-Graba-Graba. If it's anywhere NEAR his reach he's grabbing it. Even when you think he forgot about it. He didn't. And he's going to get it.
  • On a one man personal campaign to eat all of the door stopper thingies in the house. He wakes up in the morning on this mission. If you put him down he knows EXACTLY where the closest one is and makes a laser beam focus sprint over to it.
  • Still not saying much, but making LOTS of teradactyl squealie noises.
  • Is eating and eating and eating and eating. They were right about boys and their appetites. He eats three times a day and is still taking bottles every 3-4 hours. He still prefers organic food only, please and REALLY likes table food best. Blackberries are VERY popular. So are carbs. Guess he fits in well =) When he's REALLY excited about his food he holds his arms out wide and makes happy feet by banging his feet together.

  • Drinking from a sippie cup

  • Has "officially" moved to the big boy bath (I can still squeeze one in the baby bathtub when I'm lazy but usually end up soaking everything in the bathroom)

  • Has decided that blowing raspberries on your leg is about the funniest thing ever.

  • This game is a close second. He'll even do it himself to try and get you to do it.

  • Goes to sleep by himself, IN HIS CRIB! BY HIMSELF!!!!! (I am SO excited about this one)
  • Still has absolutely ZERO desire to snuggle, read books, sing songs, or play with a toy. He's getting door knobber thingies, standing up, jumping, or grabbing something and eating it. Those four things make up a pretty good day.
  • I've never seen him do this again, but it's just funny =)

What a weekend!

Blake took off on his annual fly fishing weekend and of course we had a jammed packed couple of days to fill in. I wasn't going to brave soccer alone but I'm SO glad that I did! Emmy for some reason just decided to be really on her game today. In the third "quarter" she did a fast break and ran down the field with the ball and scored a goal!!  The best thing was that when she did it, she ran off the field as fast as she could and came and gave me a huge Hi-five. I gave her a big hug and said "All right! Go make another one! And she said "I just did that." and sat down for a snack. Oh well, baby steps! She did go in for the last quarter, and I was SO proud of her for willingly "playing" the entire game. We're making progress. Coach Brad awarded her the medal for the day and she was SO excited. She kept telling me "it's BEAUTIFUL!"
We had a celebratory donut and then GiGi and Pops came over to relieve Mommy and spend the night for the big Prairie Dog experience the next day. Emmy has been in chior at church all year and this weekend was the big finale. A musical called "Jonah's Druthers" that tells the story of Jonah and the Whale, except Jonah is from the Wild West and he falls in to an abandoned well. It's really very cute and Emmy has had the ENTIRE hour long musical memorized for a long time now. She has hand motions for all the songs and we listen to it in the car a LOT. Emmy's choir was to dress as Prairie Dogs. That's easier said than done, but I think they turned out pretty cute!

They made a little "prarie dog song" for the little kids to sing. Most of the kids in the choir hadn't listed to the CD quite as many times as we had evidently ;)

And here's the big performance! I was pleasantly surprised that Emmy actually performed. Last time they sang in choir she turned around and watched herself on the big screens the entire time. The musical was REALLY long, so it's amazing that after sitting there for an hour, the little prairie dogs were still on their game.

After such a big weekend full of so many eventful things, we of course had to finish off with a bang, literally. We ran to Sams and brought Emmy. She was walking behind the cart and fell, slamming into the bottom rung of the buggy with.. drumroll please... the EXACT place she STILL has glue from her stitches. It was pretty brutal looking right when it happened and still pretty impressive that night. Her poor little face is never going to get a rest!

Ok, we're ready for Blake to come home now! It's been a CRAZY, productive, happy couple of days!

It's a.....

We've been anxiously awaiting the reveal of what our new little cousin will be! It feels like Laura's pregnancy has gone by SO very fast. Emmy has always said that it's a girl, and we finally got to see who was right!

We all put our guesses in and mom made a tater bouquet to represent our guesses. A What? you say? We have called Laura's little bun in the oven Tater for a while now. I like the term he-tater and she-tater but they never really caught on ;) There were 4 girl guesses and 2 boys.  Laura and Sean kept with the theme and we were give a Mr or Mrs. Potato head to put together to see the gender and to tell us the name.

GiGi opened the tater and we found out it's a GIRL! Emmy was right all along. Princess Clara Anne Townsend will be here in really just a few months. We're all so excited!

We're in trouble now

Look what we woke up to this morning! (April 22) I have a feeling he's going to be jumping out next week!

Another milestone

We started off the morning like any other morning, bottle for Becks, milk for Emmy, coke for me... and then Emmy decided to take a flying leap off the couch and roll RIGHT on top of Blake's laptop bag. In typical Emmy fashion, she shook it off and started playing again. I was debating back and forth if I should take her to the hospital when the new Nanny, Bertha came for the day, the look on her face told me I should go ahead and just go.

We spent the morning at Texas Children's. Emmy thought it was awesome because she got to watch cartoons for three hours. They had to numb her head , and she was ok with that.

But then they had to clean it out. UGH!!!! They wrapped her in a blanket and I had to hold her down while she screamed "Mommy! Mommy!" She was shaking like crazy by the time they finished. NOT one of the best Mommy moments. Thankfully, popsicles can cure just about anything.
We ended up with just the glue! I don't think I could've handled stitches. We can mark hospital visit off our list of firsts. At least it was just a minor booboo.....

Game #2

Who would've known that we'd have to bust the windbreakers back out? Soccer game #2  brought out about 2/3 of the kiddos. We are in for the long haul, but I can see where if you had to wake up early, drag your screaming kid here, and then watch them run around not on the field for an hour you wouldn't come.

Emmy did her drills diligently,
Beckett suited up with his new baseball hat from GiGi and Pops and his best PeePaw face.
Coach Daddy gave her a pep talk.
And she did her best to kick the ball. But pretty much after that there was some running after the ball, a lot of staring out in the distance and chewing on her finger, and a LOT of sitting on the sideline whining for a snack.
After the game everyone slapped hands. I'm really hoping that she gets into it more soon!

Soccer!!

We finally started soccer with Emmy's old Primrose friends! There are 9 little 3 year olds on the field and herding cats would probably be nice compared to "coaching a game."

Emmy got all dressed up in her gear, inlcuding her "Shingardens" and was ready for the game. Yes, I got her matching bows. Duh!
Becks cheered Emmy on from his own personal chair.
Coach Daddy and Coach Brad passed out the jerseys and Emmy got number 42. She suited up and was ready for practice.
The kids were SO adorable in their little jerseys. This is Emmy and her friend Kyrianna getting ready for the game.
"Practice" consists of a lot of kicking at the goal.
Emmy had a lot of fans to Cheer her on. GiGi, Pops, and YaYa all came to see her first soccer game!
The games are only 20 minutes. Emmy played MAYBE 10. She was in and out, pretty much really just focused on the snacks. That and the camelback are pretty much what soccer is all about. The kids were nuts, running all over the place. Out of the 9 kids on the team, we have maybe 3 that are really interested. Three of the girls just ran around the extra courts laughing and laying on the ground. A couple just hung out on the sidelines in thier parents laps, and Keppler decided that he didn't want to sit out his turn. We looked up and he was over playing in the other game next field over! He was out scoring goals and no one knew he wasn't supposed to be there! Hilarious!
Here's Emmy and Coach Daddy celebrating a successful first game! It's going to be an interesting season!

He's Talking!!! And now he won't stop!

I've been worried about Beckett's hearing because he's had so many ear infections, he's not babbling at all, and let's face it, I'm burned from Emmy. Well he finally decided he was ready! At the beach this weekend (April 6-7, I'm a little slow posting)  all of the sudden he just burst out with "da da!" And pretty quick after he started saying Ma Ma! And now he won't STOP talking. I don't really mind though! SO fun to hear him jabbering!
