Cupcakes: 3 months

Here we are again, another month flown by. I will admit, this is the first time in three kids, 26 sets of cupcakes, that we have missed the actual day. These are a day late. We thought about it and then never actually made it to the store. I can't believe we made it that far without it happening. I hope she'll forgive us =)

At three month Sutton is:
  • We didn't have an official weigh in for this month, but she's growing! The 0-3 month clothes are just about too small. We're moving in to 3-6. She has the chubbiest cheeks and is working on 3 or 4 chins.

  •
  • Spitting. and spitting and spitting. Blowing bubbles is really fun, and so is just spitting for fun!
  •
  • Sleeping really well finally! She officially sleeps from around 11 pm to 6ish. Naps are another story. They are off or on and last varying amounts of time from all day to NONE.
  • Is talking and talking. Particularly after she eats she'll scrunch up one shoulder and gurgle at you. I have tried for two months now to get this on camera and she refuses. As soon as she sees the camera she'll immediately stop.
  •
  • We got a giggle! Of course not on camera. It will happen once or twice in a row and then she's done.
  • She loves to kick kick but is mainly interested in sitting up. She can pull her entire body upright from leaning back. She is incredibly strong!
  • Just like her brother and sister, standing up is the best. She can't support her weight for long, but she loves it.
  • Has found her fingers! Chewing and sucking on them keeps her busy. She also loves the blanket to chew.

  • The fake cough has arrived. She's not a huge fan yet, but will use it here and there.
  • YOu can see her actually thinking about using her hands to bat at toys. It's fun to watch the level of concentration. You can see the wheels turning and the delight when she gets it.
  • Is a happy happy girl.I will go ahead and call her an easy baby. I will probably regret that later. She rarely ever cries. Even her fuss is sort of just less happy.

  •
  •  Will do "big eyes" when she's scared or surprised.
  •
  • Is my first child who will fall asleep in a restaurant. I can wrap her up, rock her, and she'll just fall asleep and stay asleep while we eat. I am in complete awe every time it happens. I think I earned it after the last two!
  • Has been fully indoctrinated into everything Aggie already.

  •
  • Has started taking baths in the big girl baby bath tub. She's always pretty unsure about it at first, and then tries to kick all the water out quickly after that.
  •

Skippyjon the pumpkin

I remember making a pumpkin that looked like an alien baby, who I think was named Bleep for some reason, with my mom when I was in elementary school. I was secretly looking forward to Emmy being in school so we could do the pumpkin challenge. The kids were required to create a pumpkin that looked like a story book character. Emmy picked Skippyjohn Jones. We went to Hobby Lobby and she decided what materials to use, she was actively engaged in painting the pumpkin and making the first ear. She even told me under no circumstances was I to TOUCH any part of the pumpkin without her being there. Then I bet you can guess what happened. Yep, I made the rest of Skippyjohn. I swear, next year, it's all her!

B's big date!

We try and spend as much 1:1 time with the kids as we can. I've been trying during these last few weeks of maternity leave to spend as much quality time as I can because I know that it's going to be completely nuts when I head back. B has been very in to dinos lately, so I thought it might be fun to go see the exhibit at the museum. I carefully told him they were dino bones over and over again. He promised me that was ok. Turns out they were also having a shark exhibit... double bonus!  Basically, it turned out to be two sharks in a fish tank you could touch, unless your arms are the length of a four year olds, this guy, and finding Nemo on a tv. I'll let you guess which one was his favorite.
TO my surprise we lasted about 40 minutes in the dinos. This is about 20 minutes more than I was expecting. Thankfully there was no one there so he could just run back and forth between the dinos. His favorite was the pterodactyls. Amazing to me is that the dinos all have different names than when we studied them in school. No more brontosaurus!  His favorite thing to do at night is talk about if a dino is his size, the size of his room, or the size of the house. I think this might've helped him understand that a little more.
After our dino power hour we headed down to the metro rail station. I am probably the only idiot trying to push the metro rail off as a train, but hey, it was a LOT cheaper than the dinos. We got there just in time to catch a train. B couldn't have been more excited. He "choo chood" the whole way downtown.
We met GiGi at the train stop where we promptly got to meet a cop on a horse AND see someone get arrested. Welcome to Downtown! At Jason's Deli, he was treated like a unicorn. It is a little jarring to see kids downtown. I bet that was the only mac and cheese they made all day.

In a spur or luck (those seem to just follow him around) the Total Formula 1 car just happened to be in the lobby of mom's office. Since there wasn't a line, the people let B take the simulator for an extra long spin. And, since he was so cute I guess, he was the only person who got to actually sit IN the car for a photo op.

I think this could definitely qualify as Beckett's best day ever. The only think missing was gummy worms and it might be perfect. We rode the train back (sitting backward which he liked EVEN better) and headed back for naptime. Did I mention we did this all before 1:30? TIRED MOM!

Soccer shots...

B is about 2/3 of the way through his first "Season" at soccer shots. I love it mainly because there are no early Saturday morning games and because it's really more in tune with what a three year old needs in soccer. His coach  Ziggy leads skill drills, and they play a brief little "game" at the end. (There is pretty much nothing cuter than a bunch of tiny guys doing jumping jacks or running sprints.) Everyone gets a ball, and we do our own orange slices at home. Everyone's happy!

B seems to really be liking it. Because it's still 900 degrees outside, they take frequent water breaks. B is always the first run to make it to the water and the first one back on the field. He's got some hustle and always leaves with bright red cheeks. He's also the shortest one on the field by about a foot. He's just barely three but he's playing with the big guys including his red headed best friend from school, Connor.

Right before they play the game each week they each get to "Score" a goal while everyone chants their name.

He doesn't seem to be overly aggressive or competitive. It'll be interesting to see if that comes out later, but he does love kicking, hitting, running, and doing anything that boys like to do.

It's pumpkin time!

I decided that given the overall craziness of October, if we didn't go to the pumpkin patch the very first day they got there, we wouldn't go at all. B was insanely excited about going, woke up from his nap grabbed his shoes and yelled at us to go to the pumpkin patch. Then you guessed it, the minute we got to the pumpkin patch, he wanted to go home. ugh. Getting all three to look in the same direction and smile is going to impossible for many more years. I guess this is a good alternative, calmly smiling (or not crying) in completely different directions.. Emmy looks so old in this picture I just can't quite get over it.

After snagging some individuals (won't tell what was promised/bribed to get these) we headed home with a few gnarly warty pumpkins, our favorite kind, to go with the GIANT one I scored at Sam's for 10 bucks. No one is quite as excited about the giant pumpkin as me, but I don't care. I love a bargain!
It's fall, ya'll!

2 month pictures

Continuing the tradition. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. Just thinking of fitting 10 more pictures in is making me tired, but now I have to. We kicked off the month pictures with a lot of smiles. The squeaky toy worked it's magic! At JC Penney's you get all of 15 minutes and 20 shots (but I spent 13 bucks so I can't complain) so it's a crap shoot if you're getting anything. She saved the money shot for the very last snap.

Looking through the pictures I'm thinking she's actually halfway between B and Emmy. I guess that makes her look like herself =) I have dug through and found pictures of each in these exact same poses. Makes me get all sentimental!

Cupcakes: 2 months

At two months Sutton is:
  • 22 inches : 20%
  • 11 lbs 4 oz : 40%
  • Head - you guessed it! 89%! 15.75 inches . I will bet that next time we're 95% or above.
  • A smiley girl! She is generally a happy thing and will smile for everyone when she's awake. Squeaky noises really make her smile big. She also will give me huge smiles if I've been away and come back.

  • Still not sleeping a whole lot. probably 75% of the days she takes one nap in the morning for an hour or so and then not another one until about 9 o'clock at night. I'm afraid she more than looks like Emmy. Someone forgot to tell her she's a BABY and she needs to take a nap.

  • Figured out how to blow bubbles!
Grunts and toots and toots and toots. I have never seen a gassier baby!
Starting to look more and more like Daddy.

  • loves to kick kick kick and breathe quickly. Favorite thing by far.

  • Is loving the play gym and will tolerate the bouncy chair for a little bit.

Still the subject of a LOT of love from the bigs. Emmy has taken to doing "experiments" with her (or ON her). This experiment was how many times she would smile if emmy squeaked a squeaky toy close to her face. Really close.

Still has that mouth WIDE open.
